Leaving half a century behind, İsdemir is ready for 2021, and will focus on increasing capacity with its investments this year

OYAK's experience in international markets, financial strength and modern management principles İsdemir carrying out its activities in the light of both this year will focus on the power and capacity increases and will contribute to development of Turkey and Iskenderun. İsdemir will continue to lead the development of the country's industry by providing basic inputs to many sectors in 2021.

The only and biggest integrated steel plant in Turkey producing long and flat steel simultaneously Isdemir has been continuing to provide added value to Iskenderun for 50 years. Providing basic inputs to many sectors such as pipe manufacturing, shipbuilding, construction, pressure vessels and boilers, general construction, road and rail vehicles, İsdemir will continue to benefit Iskenderun with its investments this year, and will continue to be the pioneer of the sector by focusing on capacity increase.

Continues investments and projects without slowing down

Supply, production and site operations are in progress in New Coke Gas Gasometer and Meltshop, A-B Hall Extension and Crane Projects at Isdemir being the third biggest iron and steel plant in Turkey in terms of establishment date, and the biggest one for the production of long products. Engineering, procurement processes, equipment procurement, manufacturing and field activities of the 1st New Blast Furnace, Vacuum Degassing Facility and 3rd Coke Battery Renewal Projects are carried out at İsdemir. İsdemir also continues its purchasing studies for the 1st Blast Furnace Top Pressure Expansion Turbine (TRT) and the 3rd Steam Boiler Retubing (Partial Pipe Replacement) and Burner Modification Projects

TSE protects its employees with Covid-19 Safe Production Certificate

Despite the economic and social effects of the coronavirus epidemic and the fluctuations in the global economy, İsdemir continues production with the devoted efforts of its employees. It continues to establish a safe working environment by adhering to the measures and OHS practices announced by the TR Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. İsdemir, who has successfully completed the certification examinations performed within the framework of the infection prevention and control procedures determined by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) in the fight against pandemics, has the TSE Covid-19 Safe Production Certificate for the production sector.

Contributing to global production, İsdemir took its place in the Global 100 list.

İsdemir being a locomotive power for the industry of Turkey has a very important place in the history of industrialization of Turkey. İsdemir also contributes to global production with its production capacity of 5.8 million tons / year liquid steel, 3.5 million tons / year flat product, 0.6 million tons / year coil and 2.5 million tons / year billet. Playing an important role in increasing the production capacity of flat products, which is vital for the development of the Turkish steel industry, İsdemir produces billets, coils, hot rolls and slabs. In addition to these products, by-products such as coke, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, ammonium sulphate, granulated slag, tar and benzol are also produced.

With its contribution to global production and marketing activities abroad, İsdemir took the 22^nd place in the Global 100' companies of Turkey this year according to the results of the research carried out by Platin magazine and Ipsos jointly. İsdemir was ranked second in its sector after Erdemir, one of the OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies in the research including 100 companies from different industries representing Turkey successfully.

Focusing on efficiency

İsdemir was awarded the first prize with its "Reverse Washing System with Sea Water in Steam Turbine Condensers Project" in Energy Efficiency in Industry Project Competition, organized for the 20th time this year by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources. Having received awards in previous years for its energy efficiency studies, İsdemir has received a total of 13 awards, including 7 first prizes, 2 second prizes, 2 third prizes and 2 Special Jury Awards since 2005. Acting with the goal of using its resources and energy in the most efficient way in its production, İsdemir will continue to work on energy saving and quality-oriented improvement in its production lines in the new year, with the principle of continuous improvement.

Again included in the BIST Sustainability Index

İsdemir was also included in the Sustainability Index, which includes companies traded on Borsa Istanbul (BIST) and have high corporate sustainability performances. İsdemir, whose shares have been traded on the stock exchange since 2016, has succeeded in entering the index in the last two years. Improving its activities with OYAK's Sustainability Strategy, which is based on the "more value with less resources" approach, İsdemir will continue its efforts to minimize its environmental impacts and continuous improvement in production technologies, energy and resource efficiency.

Preparations started for the Children's Traffic Education Park Project

İsdemir also supports the "Hatay Children's Traffic Education Park Project", which was implemented within the framework of the understanding of social responsibility, by the Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Provincial Administration. Efforts are underway to complete the Children's Traffic Education Park built in Günyazı neighborhood of Antakya with the contributions of İsdemir.
