Isdemir, Turkey's only and largest integrated plant producing both long and flat steel celebrates its 50th year.

Continuing its activities in the light of OYAK's experience in international markets, financial power and modern management principles, in its 50th year. İsdemir is involved in many sectors such as pipe manufacturing, shipbuilding, construction, pressure vessels and boilers, general construction, road and rail vehicles providing and leading the development of the country's industry. Being one of the locomotive forces of Turkish industry, the company focuses on capacity increase with new investments.

Isdemir, Turkey's only and largest integrated plant producing both long and flat steel is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Focusing on sustainable growth, the company continues its activities in the light of OYAK's experience in international markets, financial strength and modern management principles. Leading the development of the country's industry by providing basic inputs to many sectors, İsdemir also focuses on increasing capacity power with new investments.

İsdemir being Turkey's third integrated iron and steel mill in terms of establishment date, but the largest one in the production of long products capacity, completed Slab Casting Mold Level Control System Modernization project performance tests within the scope of its activities under the umbrella of OYAK Mining Metallurgy. It continues its works for the New Coke Gas Gasometer, the first New Blast Furnace, the Vacuum Degassing Facility, the renewal of the 3rd Coke Battery and the 1st Blast Furnace Top Pressure Turbine Project. In addition, the works for the extension of the Steelhouse A-B hall and the supply and installation of two 350-ton cranes are in progress.

Focused on energy saving and efficiency

Within the scope of the ongoing studies in İsdemir at the 50th anniversary, electricity saving and efficiency are aimed with the 1st and 3rd New Blast Furnace projects.

The investment for the renewal and modernization of the İsdemir 3rd Coke Battery serves to increase the by-product sales volume as well as to save energy. ‘Planning to reach high quality clean steel production with Vacuum Degassing Plant Project; It will provide improvement in carbon removal capability and processing times.

In the focus of the İsdemir New Sinter Factory investment, increasing the use of sinter and reducing pellet and coke consumption exist. With the "1st Blast Furnace Top Pressure Turbine Project", it is aimed to generate additional electricity by using the pressure of the blast furnace gas.

Isdemir: the cornerstone of Turkish industry

With the foundation laid in 1970 laid İsdemir as a locomotive power for Turkish industry has a very important place in the history of industrialization of Turkey. İsdemir also contributes to global production with its production capacity of 5.8 million tons / year liquid steel, 3.5 million tons / year flat product, 0.6 million tons / year coil and 2.5 million tons / year billet. Playing an important role in increasing the production capacity of flat products, which is vital for the development of the Turkish steel industry, İsdemir produces billets, coils, hot rolls and slabs. In addition to these products, by-products such as coke, oxygen, nitrogen, argon, ammonium sulphate, granulated slag, tar and benzol are also produced.

Despite the economic and social effects of the coronavirus epidemic that affected the whole world and the fluctuations in the global economy, İsdemir continued production this year without interruption, it continues to establish a safe working environment by adhering to the measures and OHS practices announced by TR Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. İsdemir, who has successfully completed the certification examinations performed within the framework of the infection prevention and control procedures determined by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) in the fight against pandemics, also has the TSE Covid-19 Safe Production Certificate for the production sector.
